Julian Escobar is a versatile Colombian drummer and composer who began his musical journey at the age of five. His passion for jazz was ignited by his mentor in Colombia, German Sandoval, sparking a deep curiosity for improvised music. Influenced by jazz legends such as Jack Dejohnette, Dave Weckl, Mark Guiliana, and Steve Gadd, Escobar’s exploration expanded to include drummers from earlier generations like Philly Joe Jones, Kenny Clarke, Max Roach, Elvin Jones, and Roy Haynes. One pivotal album that solidified Escobar’s love for jazz is “Out of the Afternoon” by Roy Haynes. These influences inspired him to delve into straight-ahead jazz, where he crafted his own compositions, blending personal flair with the tradition of jazz standards
Keith Wong is a vocalist and award-winning composer who integrates the jazz tradition with elements from choral music and theater. Born in Hong Kong and graduated in jazz vocals from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, he brings a diverse cultural background to his compositions.
Fueling his artistic pursuits, Keith Wong received support from both the Sena Performers Music Production Fund in the Netherlands and the Hong Kong Art Development Council in 2023, facilitating the creation of his newly released debut album “Intertwined.”
